ABOUT

Ceramic industry is engaged in the manufacture of bricks of different shapes, faience, porcelain and other products made of the ceramic clays by method of firing. It has a deep history in the Slavic countries, and as a designer I find it important to preserve values and cultural heritage.
The design of this unique ceramic jug is based on the Golden section. By the process of stylization of a basic cone shape I attained an aesthetic and functional product. Golden ratio, golden cut or divine section (Lat. Sectio divina) is an irrational number with many intriguing features. Geometric shapes derived from this number are deemed aesthetically very attractive. The design is enriched with graphical elements to disturb the purity of shape. Therefore the graphics are intetionally deformed at its edges, stressing the morphology of the jug while abolishing the minimalist shape principles.
The applied graphics was inspired by Slavic motifs, specifically the region where the author comes from. A modern stylization of folk elements used in region of Moravia and Slovakia corresponds with traditional colours in all variations.
Pure white ceramics is complemented by light beech wood, finished according to its use.
