About me

I have a strong ambition to work within the culture and arts editorial environment, constantly communicating with others, researching new topics and writing excellent pieces that increase audiences digitally and within print. I have just completed a work experience placement with S Magazine (Reach plc) and enjoyed the challenging responsibility of transcribing press interviews under pressure, copywriting and observing a feature interview with Michael Ball.

I am currently studying a Masters at the University of Birkbeck and developing a journalistic skill set rapidly through completing modules such as Digital culture, which explores the importance of digital journalism within the present day. This is concurrent with the Practical Skills module which has furthered my passion for writing local news stories and interviewing members of the community, such as a piece I wrote about Islington's local busking scheme. This was retweeted by many local venues within the surrounding area and helped encourage applicants.

I currently work as a content writer for two different digital publications, Left Bank Magazine and Open Mic UK. Through writing these articles on a weekly basis, I research, reach out to interviewees and keep in touch with preferred writing styles. I would take forward these skills and ensure that I provided accurately researched, engaging and high standard content that would be excellently written. I have also self-started my own music blog, Scarlett Notes. The blog shares weekly reviews on local independent musicians and bands in order to provide free exposure and an engaging music platform that shares current music news.

During the summer of 2017, I volunteered as Social Media Manager for an East Anglian tribute music festival, The Nearly Festival. I grew my understanding and skill set within social media such as using a social dashboard to manage Twitter, Facebook and Instagram simultaneously.

With this in mind, I feel as an individual, I would bring a positive mindset, determined approach and eagerness to listen and develop within a busy team. I would ensure I consistently work to an immaculate standard and face every challenge confidently, bringing creativity and engagement to the forefront.
