About me

As a young entrepreneur or as a student, I have always been a strong advocate of using Indian Textile Crafts, with a twist, and bringing them in the limelight which they deserve. A fashion design graduate from Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune with Masters in Textile Design from University of the Arts London. I have so far worked with three traditional crafts of India namely Batik (Madhya Pradesh), Ikat (Andhra Pradesh) and Kinnauri Shawl Weaving (Himachal Pradesh) with a vision to revive them with contemporary aesthetics thus bridging the gap between the artisans and global market.

I have received multiple awards for the Graduate project which was also selected among the top 25 finalists for IFFTI Design Competition hosted by Donghua University, Shanghai, China. I have also been a winner of Vogue honours 2016 - 'Cool India'. My innovative approach towards traditional crafts has also earned me a patent for using Lycra on Handloom and working with Placement Weaving for Pochampally Ikat.

My business endeavour, House Of Tamarind aims to break the conventional representation of Indian culture in the global scenario by aesthetically combining sustainability and style, with its versatile applications adding innovative dimensions to the ordinary. It is a nostalgic link that reunites us with ourselves through handcrafted pieces made with deep sense of belonging.
