TUI Christmas DOOH Escalator Campaign
TUI wanted a Christmas campaign that could stand out in a crowded festive advertising space and feel unmistakably travel-led. Working with Global, POD LDN helped bring the idea to life through a long-format DOOH experience designed specifically for London Underground escalators.
The concept, “A Christmas ad that takes you on a journey. Literally,” used the movement of commuters as part of the storytelling, turning a daily commute into a festive travel moment.
Process
POD LDN supported the project from creative development through to final delivery. The campaign was designed as a continuous travel scrapbook, featuring postcard-style scenes, luggage, destination cues and animated elf characters.
The process included storyboarding the full escalator journey, developing 3D character animation, preparing textures and visual assets, designing the long-format layout, and delivering final DOOH-ready files to specification.
End Results
The campaign launched across key London Underground locations, including King’s Cross St. Pancras and Oxford Circus, during the peak Christmas season.
By designing for the escalator format, the campaign became more than a media placement. It created an engaging festive experience that commuters noticed, filmed and shared, successfully extending TUI’s Christmas campaign into the real world.
