About me
Hello!
I am a multi talented visual artist with experience in the fields of the fine arts, graphic design, illustration, mosaics, art education and creative project development.
I initiated my creative career at the age of 12 when I started learning academic drawing and painting with brazilian artist Marco Antonio Cavallari. I developed my drawing and painting skills at his studio up until the age of 18, when I went to the university.
I did a BA in Graphic Design which brought me an understanding of printing processes, typography, some video production and sound edition experiences in a variety of visual design projects.
A year before I complete my undergraduate studies I was hired by a magazine publisher called Alto Astral to work as Designer and Illustrator for their magazines and I stayed at this job for about 5 years. There I enhanced my creative and inventive side designing magazine layouts and hand-made and digital illustrations. This experience provided me expert skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I learnt how to cope with tight deadlines and to work by my own initiative as well as part of a team.
In 2009 I moved to the UK and went to study at Kingston University to pursue a masters degree in Design for Development. This MA course showed me how to apply my graphic design skills to develop social innovation projects through the use of creative thinking tools and a people's centred approach. During this MA I worked as an intern in projects with the NATIONAL TRUST and also with social design agency USCREATES.
Most recently I have assisted in transforming Southbank Mosaics into London School of Mosaic which is the only school in the UK to offer a Degree course in mosaic studies and I was employed as Lead Artist Tutor. I worked and taught there for over 8 years. In my role as a lead artist tutor I taught mosaic making skills to people of all ages including those with learning difficulties, physical impairments and even young offenders.
In January 2029 I moved to Birmingham where I live with my husband and our dog Axl Rose.
I currently work as a freelance visual artist from my art studio at home and as an artist tutor at the Midlands Arts Centre.
