About me
Hello,
During my employment with iiaa Ltd, and previous roles at JML and Oxford University Press, I have gained and developed many skills and attributes which I feel meet the criteria for this position. I have become fully proficient in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop to an advanced level and this has allowed me to expand my current role into areas outside of the original job description. This includes using these and other programmes to enhance presentations, product photography and product gift packaging.
Within the iiaa, I have been involved in developing a range of POS and sales material for our three main brands which we distribute in the UK - Jane Iredale mineral cosmetics, Environ skin care, and the Advanced Nutritional Programme Skincare supplements. I have also developed and improved our monthly communications with our suppliers, sourced printers for more somplex printing jobs and helped develop the branding and promotional material for our new salon, Skin3.
My inDesign skills enabled my taking responsibility for the JML Direct catalogue, overseeing all aspects from design and layout to print ready files, often to tight, demanding deadlines and to budget. As a result, this has lead to designing supplier pages for many store catalogues, including Argos and Tesco direct and communicating with our internal account managers and the catalogue production coordinators, ensuring the design adheres to their style guidelines. I also assisted the production department in visual mock-ups and sourcing large format printing for TV sets within budget, often negotiating short production times.
Working in a commercial design environment as designer I am able to negotiate tactfully with colleagues at all levels. I am proactive in securing work and enjoy the challenge of embarking on new tasks wherever possible.
Outside of permanent employment, I am currently a volunteer designer for Choice in Hackney, producing promotional leaflets and reports relating to disability advocacy in the area. This expands my knowledge of design in another sector, while giving a worthwhile service to this deserving charity.
I previously enjoyed being responsible for designing inPrint, the Magazine of the Society of Young Publishers. This involved good time management, and being able to handle many last minute changes from editors and advertisers to ensure the print deadline were met and to standard.
I am a reliable, dedicated and enthusiastic team member. I work in a conscientious manner, work well with all colleagues and most importantly enjoy everything I do. I strive to improve my skills, learn new ones and share current ideas, but am keen to embark on a new challenge within a new organisation.
I hope you find my application of interest and look forward to your response. Samples of my work can be found at *, however I can compile a more bespoke collection to send to you specific to this role.
Many thanks,
Paul.
