About me
I am an enthusiastic, bright and creative twenty three year old looking for a chance to work and make an impact in, the Graphic Design/Advertising industry.
In June 2006 I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a BA Upper Division Second Class Honours Degree, in Contemporary Art & Graphic Design. It was here that I began to specialise in mixed media illustration & collage, working on projects such as book & record covers, editorial illustrations, as well as adverts for billboard posters, magazines & newspapers.
Although my work to some is viewed as illustration, I look at myself more as a designer, than an illustrator. My passion has always been coming up with ideas, by working from a brief and then sketching and creating designs to provide possible solutions.
I have a strong understanding and knowledge of Mac computers and Adobe Photoshop, and also experience with Quark, Illustrator and In Design. These skills allowed me to become a key member of our University Design Committee, creating imagery to advertise special events, such as Charity functions, live gigs and end of year exhibitions.
After graduating, I took a year out to travel throughout South America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. This was self-funded and something I had saved money towards for several years. Throughout Sixth Form and University I worked incredibly hard labouring during the Easter, Summer and sometimes Christmas holidays in order to fund my travels.
My dream trip lived up to my expectations and was an incredible insight into the way others live in such diverse cultures. In addition to practicing my photography skills, travelling has made me become a far more self-reliant and confident person. I've always been able to work well as part of a group (Both in sporting terms & academically), but now I have a real faith in my own ability to also work independently.
