About me

I have always been a creative individual and in 2007 I decided to return to college to re-educate my self due to the extreme lack of employment opportunities. My first year at Scottish Borders College was studying HNC Visual Communications of which I gained an A pass and received student of the year. I also received an award from the Hawick Art Society for my work. I then went on to complete my HND in the same course of which I also gained an A pass and again won student of the year. I also won the prestigious award of Scottish Borders Adult Learner of the year 2010.

Since my completion of these courses I was invited to do some work placement at the College and designed several projects that are now widely used to promote the establishment. Tartan Monkey was a project that I designed for the college student association web site and which has now been turned into a full costume solely for promotional purposes. I also designed the new awards certificates for the college. The establishment is about to produce a promotional film of which I have been invited to take part in due to my commitment to my chosen field of study, and the advancements I have achieved.

I am currently now studying at Heriot watt University in Galashiels, this being my last year. The course consists of Design Management which encompasses marketing and e-commerce. My grades for year three were good and I fully expect the same this year.

I am fully proficient in many aspects of the Adobe Suite which include Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design and am currently working on Flash progression, both with PC and Mac. I also use a programme called ZBrush which produces stunning vivid imagery which is web ready, or can be converted to Photoshop for high resolution print. Not only do I use computer generated graphics to reach my goals, but also encompass Multi Media, such as Airbrush and painting with Acrylics, undertaking large mural projects for various Restaurants. More recently I have diversified into photography and now have my own portable studio. I have constructed my own web site which shows my progression through my studies from old to new methods. *.

My work has now lead me to be working with a number of projects with new and innovative companies requiring out the box vivid illustration. The company I am currently working with is purely e-commerce and solely relies on my imagery for its future gains. All this has been done through remote working. Unfortunately I can not upload theses images to my web site due to contractual agreement until the launch date. I am also currently producing imagery for a bands CD with the sole intention of promoting them to a wider audience. I have also worked with a number of charity groups including the Apex Group. This involved teaching teenagers with behavioural problems some design skills. I also worked with Face To Face, a charity which deals with drug and alcohol abuse in youngsters. This involved producing a leaflet which promoted the groups facilities and has now been printed and sent to educational establishments and clinics.

Last year I was invited to conduct a lecture on my work at the Hawick High School Lecture Rooms which was very successful, and there has been mention of perhaps me taking future night classes at the Scottish Borders College.

I am a very reliable hard working individual who always gives one hundred percent to any giving challenge. This comes though the belief that I can only progress in my chosen field, and have never missed a dead line that has been presented to me. Although my web site contains strong vivid imagery which is not always to every ones taste the ability is there to diversify into any giving concept.
