About me
browny blonde hair.. some say strawberry, some say red.. blue eyes..
i like long walks on the beach.. oh, hold on, wrong profile..
music enthusiast.. learning to play guitar, at times i think im jimi
hendrix.. learning to use ableton live. it is really fun, not as
difficult as i thought.. and not as easy either..
i have a courtyard that comes off my small lounge room, which is in
my small london flat.. i go out there to smoke.. just bought a skipping
rope so would like to start pumping the blood out there too..
bought a new mac the other day. im in love again.. i left my other
ones in australia (that big island near antartica). oh yah, im
australia.. but i feel that some of the other 'aussies' here in London
give us a bit of a bad name..
i have prints on my wall that are staring back at me. basquiat,
andy, and some other guy.. the other guys is my favorite, titled 'a
bigger splash'. i like pop art. i like pop culture. i like reading
magazines, actually i dont really read them i just look at the
pictures. sometimes i order them on the internet, they are the best
ones.. and its like getting a present when it arrives in the
post.
i like a drink, sometimes i drink too much..(on weekends).. i have
worked out a trick though.. if you eat a couple of ice creams and have
a shower before you go to sleep after a big night out, you wake up
feeling pretty good.. but a big cook up is also essential.. and a
smoothy..
im a graphic designer.. it is my passion, it is what drives me
daily.. everywhere you look there is inspiration for artwork.. one day
i would like to have something posted on itsnicethat.com.. that would
be special..
i dont have a particular style, (bit of a downfall), but i can adapt
/ mould artwork to any style, and reference from many sources.. (guess
thats an upside).. im inspired by many different directions /
movements.. minimal works well on the eye, and id rather use less space
than more space.
expert at adobe suite, know it back to front, inside and out.. it is
the milk and sugar to my coffee.. can work through a brief quickly,
when a client is screaming to see what they are paying for..
i've only had one client knock back artwork i did, but she was
crazy, she told me she can hear peoples thoughts and was an old hippy.
(just quietly i think she experimented with LSD too much) but in the
end she got what she wanted, it looked like a 'word' file.. "the
best design she has seen" she said.. i laughed quietly in my head,
hope she didnt hear it.. oops..
i have worked in large studios, freelance, and have had my own
studio thingy operating before i decided that i wanted to move
overseas.. i like to get my hards dirty and learn how the process
actually works.. so ive had many great discussions with printers,
manufacturers, other creatives et al to get a greater understanding of
production from the ground on up.. i mean wheres the fun in just
sending off artwork from you computer, then have it magically appear
finished
i would like to find a position that i can grow into, and call my
own.. although i have been a 'designer' for a while.. im a perpetual
learner, so i leave the ego at home and am open to constructive
'appraisal'.. i guess in creative industries is a must to have this
attitude, otherwise you'll get left behind with CSII..
im ready to work now, my visa is for 2 years, but i am looking to
extend that with sponsorship from 'your' workplace.. lol.. but that is
ages away so we can talk about that then..
basically, i know what level im at.. i know all the software..
design is more than my vocation it is my life, im a bit of a design
geek.. i've been here in london now for 2 months and cant find any
design work. so i am working in a cafe, which is driving me crazy,
seriously if im there much longer i think ill be wearing a white
jacket..
anyhow, im looking for a mid-weight / junior position i dont really
mind, with an opportunity to move up when that time arrives.. but if
you think im worth more,, sure pay me more, that would be grand..
oh, im really really bad at interviews. i dont know why because
normally i chat with people easily and tell jokes and stuff, but you
know how people talk really fast when they are nervous, well i talk
really slow.. and i seem like a bit of a weirdo.. so keep that in mind
if we get to talk.. maybe its the 'whole this is serious', 'WHO are
you
thanks for reading my waffle.. obe wan, please contact me soon..
