About me

I have recently finished studying Interior design Manchester Metropolitan University. For the last three years I have studied the concepts and ideas of architectural design, redesigning and restructuring existing buildings.

Whilst studying at Manchester I have a developed a number of skills which help in the design making process. This includes learning and developing my computer skills with programs such as Vectorworks, Vectorworks 3D, Autocad, Sketch-up, 3D Viz and Photoshop. Although I have enjoyed developing these skills I still find that sketching and 3D model making are still very useful ways of gaining a strong feeling for the structure. I have also found that looking at precedent studies is an important factor in designing a structure. In particular I have enjoyed studying the works of Casson Mann and Diller and Scofidio.

Outside of university I have a number of interests. I enjoy playing music and am capable of playing a number of musical instruments. I also work part time for Thorntons where I have been made a senior sales assistant. I have found this to be a very helpful experience as it has given me a strong sense of responsibility and independence. Last summer I has also worked part time for Mullarkey and Pederson architects in Northern Ireland. I found this a very interesting as it gave me an idea of what it would be like to work for a strong architectural practise.
