About me

My approach to design is based around human interaction with products in connection with sustainable design think the relation between these two areas is an integral focus point in the current design world and what is coming in the future. My four-year degree has made me comfortable communicating this approach in concise manner through hand sketches and in digital form. Knowledge of human centered design, human behaviors and new trends and technologies fascinate me. From this alchemy come my creativity, and the ability to brainstorm with others to generate innovative and appropriate solutions. Brand building also fascinates me, developing a product and giving it an identity.

I am an honours degree graduate from Product Design at Dublin Institute of Technology.

I consider myself a very goal driven and ambitious person. I always strive for the end result. I am enthusiastic and have the ability to grasp new concepts. I thoroughly enjoy working in a team environment because of the wide range of ideas and problem solving that it generates.

Skills

Building and creating new ideas is my expertise. My strengths lie in my ability to work with different materials, getting inspiration from weird and wonderful things in our every day lives to come up with a solution that will work and make sense. This has improved my understanding of human interaction with products and how to distinguish between a good and a great design. I want to be challenged, I strive to have a fresh approach in my work and I am always curious to understand more and experience new journeys. In producing working prototypes, my skill and knowledge of manufacturer and materials has greatly improved. Communicating with manufacturers and clients allowed me to foster negotiation skills essential to design where creative ideas can often be challenged by commercial reality. On a technical note, I am highly proficient in the Adobe suite as well as 3D software such as Solidworks, AuotoCAD and Rhino.

Sector Experience

Junior Product Designer at DesignBurst, Researched properties of manufactured product, cost and possible methods of production utilizing eco friendly techniques. I documented drawing concepts, sketches and detailed renders to then use on 3D modeling software. Developed a design event for Innovation Ireland 2012 and collaborated with Craft Council of Ireland for Dublin Design Week 2012. I have organised, with a team, the look and function for the products showcased at both events. I have created visual reports representing my background research i.e. on target market, product material, product potential function and cost. I have assisted in defining, setting direction for new product developments, pitched concepts to clients, and amended work to client’s approval. I have followed briefs successfully and produced work on time. My understanding of the relationship between a product and its customer has extensively improved.
