ABOUT
This project initially began life as a branding idea, but quickly turned into a digital art piece when I started playing around with a few brushes in photoshop. I had the title "A Murder of Crows" kicking around for quite a while, ever since I learnt the actual name for a group of crows and thought it sounded pretty cool! It was only later that I actually discovered it was a book. I wanted to create something that looked like a crow disintegrating as it came into attack, or on the flip side, a crow manifesting itself as it swooped in from nowhere. I liked the idea of using smaller crows around certain areas of the bird, using them to portray a ruffle of feathers to give the piece motion. On reflection, while I do think I achieved this, it also gives the piece a sense of scale like this is one giant mythical bird surrounded by smaller ones. I really enjoyed working on this as its not normally the sort of work I do, but I hope you enjoy!
