Dear Sir/Madam
I am Niyati Agrawal and I am currently looking for a start in the field of UX Design. My aim is to make technology more user friendly and inclusive. I am currently working on a dissertation project for my master's degree of Human Centred Systems at City University, London, where I am researching the cultural difference in emotions evoked by the use of different types of images in a website. It is now that globalisation is at its peak, designing for a global audience is becoming more relevant in order to create successful products.
My major interests include universal design and information architecture. The foundation for this was laid during my undergraduate degree in journalism, where I learnt about content placement, layout, various visual elements and the effect they have on users in the Design and Layout module. The project for this module trained me to capture business requirements, research the target audience and design to balance the various needs.
In 2013, I found a startup called 2 Cup Tee, where I provided people with personalised gifting solutions. This gave me the freedom to explore my creativity and also meet client requirements. It was a great learning experience as it taught me to work with users and was the stepping stone towards the learning of user centred design process.
Through the course of my postgraduate studies, I have worked towards polishing my skills. I am able to produce design deliverables such as user flows, sitemaps and wireframe prototypes. I have gained experience conducting user research and usability testing. My degree has been beneficial in improving my analytical skills and has helped in finding the harmony between research and design. I believe that as a designer it is important to be aware of the research being undertaken to be able to understand and design to fulfil user needs.
