About me

I have recently graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone Art College where I studied Textile design. I specialised in digital print for fashion aimed at the commercial market.

I am currently designing a range of fabrics for HF Contract Furnishings who create furniture and curtains for high street brands such as Debenhams, Topshop and Dorothy Perkings amongst many more. My role is to create designs inspired from 50's 60's and 70's popular interior design which will form a collection for care homes; the range has a focus on health care and will feature intelligent textiles. Duties also include effective communication between soft furnishing manager and product designer. Creating mood boards, colour stories and look books demonstrating how designs can be implemented.

With a background in textiles, print and fashion I feel that I would benefit your organisation and I am looking for an opportunity to apply the skills that I learnt from university in a commercial environment.

I have diverse skills which include photo manipulation, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, hand drawings, screen printing and laser cutting. During my final year at University I combined all of these techniques to create a unique and fresh fabric collection for occasion wear for women. The inspiration for my work was the mystical tales from India so my fabric echoed that narrative.

I am committed and have a zest for design and fashion/interior trends as I incorporate my trend research into my own personal design work.

Please take the time to look through my C.V and a small selection of my work. My full portfolio is available upon request.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to discussing my application soon.

Yours sincerely

Nisha Sohpal
