About me
I graduated with a 1st Class BA (Hons) degree in Fashion Studies, (specializing in Communication and Promotion) from The Arts University College Bournemouth in 2010. As part of my degree, within my last year of University I single handily created and promoted a vibrant ski fashion magazine entitled Dank! Creating this publication for my major project and other various promotional collateral throughout the degree has developed my organizational skills significantly, including styling and art direction of fashion shoots. Sourcing photographers, models and locations throughout a number of my projects has made me confident in taking charge to acquire the best results.
Having this experience I know how important it is to plan and organize things so that everything runs smoothly when trying to put the look together. I really feel that I could bring a lot to this job and would absolutely love to experience this role within an exciting agency. Within the production of my magazine I also created all the graphical artwork and marketing collateral through the development of mix media and IT experimentation. As a by-product, my skill set has been significantly increased through the use of various programs like Photoshop, illustrator and Indesign.
Whilst at University and since graduating in July I have gained invaluable experience within various areas of this sector. Working in a small team at the Graduate Fashion Week head office I was able to identify the key areas of importance for the running and organizing of such a huge event. I spent four weeks with the team prior to the event in June and then was apart of the smooth running of show throughout the week. My responsibilities varied from ticket distribution, seating plans of the shows, organization of competition entries and assisting in the
everyday administration.
More recently, further to a chance meeting at the Show, I was approached by and successfully gained an Internship at the highly prestigious fashion brand, Jimmy Choo. Working primarily in the e-commerce sector I
assisted in managing the merchandising in order to maximize profitability of in-season performance as well as helping with the launch of the St Tropez collection and the preparation for the UGG launch in September. I worked closely with the graphic designer and assisted him with many design layouts. Working for a brand like Jimmy Choo has given me the respect and understanding of what luxury fashion is all about.
Since November 2010 I have been living and working in France exploring and experiencing other passions of mine. I am an enthusiastic, gregarious character, with a huge willingness to learn and fantastic communication skills. I feel equally comfortable working alone or as part of a team where I have good leadership qualities and I have a broad range of work experience. I like to feel that I rise to the challenge of problem-solving and wont stop until I find an answer. With that determination and sheer desire I really feel I could make a positive contribution to this role.
I am well aware that it is a very competitive world, but I really believe that my character, enthusiasm and drive will help me to stand out from the rest and it would be fantastic to have the opportunity to meet you to really show you what Im all about and how I could be of be an asset to you..
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this I am sure you have read a thousand more; I just hope that this may stand out.
Kind regards
Nina West
