Thank you for considering my application for this post.
Writing has always been a natural talent of mine and, since starting to use my skills more professionally, I have discovered it is far more than just a talent and much more than an ambition. Writing is, well, me, and I am very sure I will have a long-term career doing it.
I can put my mind to just about anything and can easily create an interesting piece on even the most mundane of topics, so ideas surrounding something more adventurous are endless. I am clever with word play and can create fun and interesting titles, captions and slogans and am very capable of sourcing and choosing appropriate images to accompany an article. I have had plenty of experience managing social media pages, both for The Reviews Hub, for which I took over their Twitter feed for coverage of Latitude Festival and also for Surrogacy UK whose Facebook and Twitter pages I assist to run. I am also the main editor for the Surrogacy UK website and message boards and am currently in the process of negotiating an IT systems overhaul with some website developers. I also have self-taught skills with Photoshop and other programs and am keen to further these.
I have a fantastic way with people and am incredibly capable of being firm but fair in order to motivate others and work as part of a team. My current position as Senior Personal Assistant involves strict management of a staff team and I have single-handedly created and implemented new systems for staff files, policies and procedures, training, computer filing systems, data protection and recruitment. This was all undertaken on my own initiative for a desire to improve work practices both for myself, in the short term, and for my successors, in the long term.
I pride myself on my ability to work under pressure and all of my current positions, both voluntary and paid, are proof of my capabilities of doing so. My work for Surrogacy UK involves the planning and running of two 300 person conferences a year and this is a task I have been completing alone for the last 18 months. My work for The Reviews Hub also involves incredibly tight deadlines and appropriate management of my own time to ensure these are met. I have never failed.
Not only do I have all the necessary skills and experience needed to excel in this role, I can promise you won't have another candidate apply with my level of determination and drive to succeed, not only on my own behalf, but on the publication's behalf as well.
