About me

I graduated in 2001 from The University of York, with a degree in Electronic Engineering with Business Management, and since then I have spent most of my working time as a web content editor and web project manager for the Electoral Commission.

My current job as Corporate Communication Officer (Online) in the Electoral Commission has required me to become highly knowledgeable about W3C WAI guidelines from a corporate communication, end-user point of view, which I believe helps me to stay aware of 'building-in' accessibility from the beginning of any web projects I have taken on. I have also attended writing for the web training courses, which helped my awareness of accessibility issues from an editorial standpoint.

My degree allowed me to gain a range of IT skills, including a part of my course dedicated to commercial use of web technologies and writing HTML In addition to this, For many years I have enjoyed using my creativity and personal interest in writing for the web to become highly proficient with Macromedia's Studio software which I now use to create web sites for various private clients. The sites I create are hand-coded as accessible HTML using large (sometimes multiple) CSS to layout and organise the content.

I believe that my private website work and eclectic mix of extensive CSS knowledge, regard for end-user accessibility issues and creative flai would be make me an indispensable addition to any web design team.
