Neil's work

About Neil

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you to apply for the 3D Visualiser position. I have recently finished at the Academy Class in London, studying a Creative Licence course, which included 3ds Max, Maya, and Photoshop.

I left my job as a mechanical engineer in March to pursue a career in 3D modelling, something which I have wanted to do for a long time. I learnt a huge amount on my course from modelling, lighting, UV mapping, rendering techniques, to animation, rigid and soft bodies, and character rigging. I am confident with 3ds Max and use it on a daily basis and continue to challenge myself to learn more. I also have completed a week of training with Maya, and a 2 day Photoshop course. I passed my 3ds Max Certified User exam on the 24th of July.

After modelling a number individual objects after completing my course I decided to move onto visualisations for interiors and exteriors. I have enjoyed this aspect of 3D modelling and I am now persuing a career in visualisations. Lighting is something I am trying my hardest to improve on and will continue to do so. My portfolio includes images that I thought were of most relevance to the job, but there is a much wider range on my online portfolio via the link below.

I feel this freelance role would be the ideal place for me to start, grow and become a key, reliable member of the team. I am a fast learner so if you are using software that I am currently not I will learn it in a very short space of time. I am highly motivated to learn more, and will take my role very seriously. I am self funding all my learning and exams so I am very committed to this career change.

As I am just starting out so I am more than happy to have a salary that would reflect this. I am currently in the process of buying a property in Surrey and commuting from Crawley is not a problem in the meantime. I am currently out of work so I am able to start immediately.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and your consideration.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Neil Cotton
