About me

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have over 20 years of experience as a communications specialist at international and national levels. I have worked in Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, China, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and the UK.

My experience encompasses working directly with CEOs and senior executives on reputation growth programmes and management of global issues to harnessing team strengths to improve companywide performance. Further, my ability to build consensus among executive teams and stakeholders to promote transparency and influence positive change has been repeatedly proven.

I produced news and materials designed to allay international anxieties over the 1997 handover to Chinese Sovereignty. As editor of the Hongkong Trade Development Council's (HKTDC) flagship magazine HongKong Trader, I promoted the Territory as THE place to do business with China. The monthly magazine, both paper and online, was the colourful go-to portal for the HTDC's vast resources to realise business opportunities. The HKTDC offered a one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs to research markets and the business community, leading to concrete commercial success. The HKTDC also organised trade fairs, conventions, conferences and exhibitions.

HK Trader was distributed via the organisation's network of 50 offices worldwide. It was used by senior HK Government and Trade Officials on overseas missions.

As a media planner and strategy officer at the Home Office I co-ordinated all aspects of press and media relations ranging from controversial policies, urgent breaking news and day-to-day press enquiries.

I also set up a new electronic diary system co-ordinating news across all Home Office departments (Security, Policing, Prisons, Immigration, Judiciary) to ensure optimum media coverage. This was key in liaising with the No10 for the planning of all major government announcements.

At The HongKong Standard, I co-ordinated and managed coverage of The Territory's annual financial budget. As an editor I have championed and ensured editorial standards consistent with Financial Times Law & Tax Asia brand. I have managed all aspects of the day to day production, from soup to nuts, of magazines, newspapers, press releases and websites.

As a news journalist I have researched and written copy for culturally diverse audiences from Europe to Asia and South America.

I bring vision-driven, goal-focused communications leadership with a proven history of promoting innovation and achieving corporate goals.

Kind Regards,

Neil Colclough
