About me

I have wanted a career in the media industry since college, where I studied media production and was in turn given the chance to combine my existing skills and interest in art and design, with a technical output. I created short films using my own footage, and edited them using Final Cut Pro. I realised that I could be both artistic and use digital skills that would give me more rounded experiences that I would then be able to use within the ever-growing media industry.

I discovered animation at University, where I could further use my passion for design towards artistic projects created using software and digital assets. I concentrated on Design and Digital Media in my second year so that I could extend my knowledge of Adobe software such as InDesign, Photoshop and After Effects. This taught me how to use software to create animated pieces, as well as bettering my knowledge of editing packages and composition skills. I made sure I had experience in as many areas of the digital side of production during this time so that I could take a range of skills with me into my third year.

For my final year I took Digital Media, as for my projects I was able to create digital assets in design software, and bring them to life through 2D animations. I thrived in the production process, focusing on every tiny detail in order for the final piece to look aesthetically impressive, as well as technically correct, smooth and seamless.

Although my degree focused on computer and digital based projects, I still took an interest in the entire production process, including camera work and sound development. As the media industry is constantly growing and integrating, I found it just as important to learn about the theory side of my course as the practical. I very much enjoyed focusing on these theories, reading up on the history of the media and new media technologies, as well as learning about important elements that have developed the industry, helped shape what we see as audiences, and the forces which drive the industry forward due to demands and technical enhancements.

For me, digital design and animation wasn't just my education, it is where I found my niche, and it is what I want as a career. The creative and media industries are, for me, the most important in cultural and social development and it is what I want to be involved in.
