About me

Dear Madam/Sir

I am a CIM-qualified strategic marketer with 8 years' experience in technology marketing; most of which has been spent in B2B professional services working predominantly in the publishing and information management sector. I see my key differentiator as a marketer as having a strong ability to rapidly understand and parse (sometimes highly) complex concepts, and transform these into strategic and engaging messaging and campaigns.

My current role is Marketing Manager at HighWire Press, a platform and professional services provider for scholarly publishers. During my time with HighWire, I have developed a greater understanding of the nuances of scholarly publishing, working alongside John Sack to create thought-leadership and community engagement around how to approach Plan S. HighWire has recently been acquired by MPS Ltd, an organisation focussed on diverse content and learning solutions.

Previously I spent 6+ years heading up the marketing department at Ixxus, a publishing technology company with clients including OUP, Wiley and DK, creating custom content and data solutions that help publishers drive digital transformation. During my 6 years with the company, I oversaw successful market penetration into the publishing industry, a move which led to an increase in company revenue of 30% CAGR between and eventual acquisition by Copyright Clearance Center. At CCC, I continued to head up marketing for Ixxus' products - including our learning management solution (LMS) - for the next year as the business transitioned into the wider organisation. Following this I spent a year exploring blockchain at Aventus, a start-up spun out of Imperial College, before deciding my future lay back within scholarly publishing and education technology solutions.

My roles at both HighWire and Ixxus have been highly varied, working across high-level strategy and messaging; content, communications and campaigns; events management (both our own and key industry events and trade fairs, including FBF, LBF, ALPSP, SSP and STM); whitepaper creation; social media management; webinar and panel organisation; product marketing; budget and people management; and working with third-party vendors across video, graphic design and web design in order to promote products, services and thought leadership initiatives.

I am creative, curious, pragmatic, and an excellent written and verbal communicator. I thrive best in teams with a culture of autonomy, transparency and innovation, and value those with a strong ethical foundation.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Warmest regards,

Natalie Guest
