About me
I have over 22 years creative and organisational experience working across the board in the media.
In September last year I was unfortunately made redundant from my role as a Producer at the BBC due to budget cuts. In addition to my production duties, I was responsible for all Marketing and Publicity activity and played an integral role in coming up with new ideas and concepts. I also looked after Live Events and Web Editing/Writing. My copywriting experience is strong and varied including writing press releases, electronic newsletters, promos and other creative copy to generate internal and external interest. I also liaised extensively with journalists and other media professionals and have a natural flair for communicating at a senior level. I have also worked at several creative agencies and have a good understanding of how the industry works.
I have completed many training courses and projects that have strengthened my skills as a versatile Creative professional and the majority of these courses encompassed principles and techniques that would be relevant to working in all media environments. The courses include training in writing effective press releases, creative writing for the web and script writing and editing. I am looking for an opportunity to continue working in a creative capacity. In return I offer commitment, the ability to learn quickly and strong transferable skills.
I thrive under pressure and am an enthusiastic individual who is never afraid to bring fresh ideas to the table. I am also experienced in recognising the needs of target audiences and being able to deliver content that is both relevant and of interest to these audiences. I have extensive verbal communication skills and am very experienced in writing and editing copy for various outlets. I am also a strong negotiator and able to deliver key messages in a concise and informative way.
Whilst searching for full-time employment, I voluntarily work with a local events business who specialise in stand-up comedy and have been involved with them since their launch two years ago. Using my invaluable experience and training, I play a key role in helping them to organise and market their comedy shows by writing and distributing press releases and other promotional material, researching comedians and writing and voicing scripts for Radio and TV advertising. I have just recently produced and marketed a three day tour for the company in Glasgow, London and Birmingham and successfully got lots of media coverage in all three cities.
