About me

As a deaf child I always had a keen interest in visual things and since then Compositors and Roto Art have been areas, which inspire me, more than anything else. From a young age I enjoyed using video cameras to create my own visual effects and I'm continually impressed by the quality of the graphics that surround us in all aspects of media, from film and television, to marketing and advertisement. I feel that advances in compositions, visual effects and post production have allowed the design industry to create brilliance and I hope that by working in the your company, maybe one day I too can create the brilliance that I see around me.

I wish to work at your company because this career will offer me a wide range of opportunities and advantages; I will be allowed to add to my current skill set in a unique way as well, learn the necessary technical skills required to start a successful career as a compositor, visual effects artist and Roto artist. Working at your company will also grant me access to specialist equipment and facilities, which I would not otherwise have an opportunity to use. By working with such equipment I will be able to understand every step of the design process which will in turn allow me to manipulate techniques in an innovative manner as well as help me to problem solve. I also believe this career will give me the insight needed to understand the criteria and experience that clients and employers look for in a compositor, visual effects artist and Roto artists. Plus the opportunity to spend a year experimenting and developing a portfolio is very appealing to me and I firmly believe the guidance offered at your company is second to none.

I believe that my time at the University of Sussex and the University of Kent has prepared me for this career in many ways. I have studied Photoshop, Flash, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Autodesk Maya and 3Ds Max, After Effects and The Foundry of Nuke. I am familiar with simple visual effects, video effects and compositing. I can also create keys in green and blue screen, shadows, explosions, color corrections, as well as smokes and glows. I greatly enjoyed studying the latter but feel that I have only been provided with the basics and will need to study and get a job in this field of work in order to gain knowledge and expertise in this line of work, at the level I wish to acquire them. I believe I deserve this job because despite a literacy disadvantage I have worked very hard from the beginning of my degree to get to where I am right now and I am looking forward to continuing my learning. I have always been able to take criticism and use it constructively and I feel that being surrounded by and taught by the best teachers, employees and professors will enable me to learn in countless ways.

In my spare time I create my own personal visual effects projects, which I find very stimulating and engaging, particularly digital photography and Photoshop. I also spend time learning in tutorials such as Digital Tutors and fiddling around with other projects to gain knowledge and experience. I enjoy car mechanics, exercising at the gym and also play for and train with the Royal Albion's Brighton & Hove Disabled Football Team, where I play midfield and I am currently enjoying learning Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitus.

I see my future in your company and nowhere else. I can't imagine doing anything else and I hope that starting a career here will be the first step along my way to a creative future. I would be honored to join the employees of such a prestigious institute of learning.
