London based Equine charity Brooke re-branded in 2016. Along with a new logo, an additional graphic element was proposed (a triangular bevel) that needed to feature on all future communications to add a visual cohesion to the organisation. We were asked by Brooke to design their latest Annual Report which needed to imaginatively feature the new bevel, while at the same time not obscure the good work the charity did worldwide. The story of Brooke and all of the progress it had made over the previous 12 months still had to shine through.
Our approach was to focus on the subject matter and not think of the bevel as a limitation, but to be bold and dynamic with it. We played with its proportion and transparency and how it could work alongside a wide variety of content including Brooke's highly evocative photography, info-graphics and mandatory financial tables. We aimed for no two spreads to be the same and allow the bevel to naturally tie them all together, regardless of content.
