About me

For the past two years I have worked for the Documentary Filmmakers Group (DFG).

DFG is a documentary production company. As a production assistant I have worked on several broadcast and non-broadcast projects. I have highlighted several on My CV. As a production assistant my role varies from day to day. I was mainly responsible for organising the shoots; from hiring crew, staff, services and equipment. These shoots varied in scale and took place all over the UK.

Along side this I was also responsible in a production co-ordinator role, which meant I was solely in charge of making sure that all production paperwork was in order. This involved providing paperwork to the production staff from call sheets to release forms. I also arranged elements that were vital to the productions such as insurance.

A large part of my role is administrative; I have to be particularly rigorous when working on productions. I am solely responsible for maintaining accurate records during the filmmaking process. This is a large amount of paperwork which has to be collated and submitted to broadcasters. Many of the documents that I deal with are legal contracts. I therefore have developed an organised approach to my work.

Whilst the productions are being carried out I have to maintain the budget. This includes monitoring the money I pay out to individuals in petty cash to spending on research materials, stationery, services, food and travel.

I have distributed press material to media organisations, press, ethnic minority groups and UK wide film offices.

I am always working on several projects at any one time. These can be of a vastly contrasting nature. I therefore have the ability to prioritise tasks and work loads, and as my work often involves working towards a particular date and time I fully understand the importance of deadlines. I therefore know what it is like to work in a pressurised environment, and cope well at these times, in particular in dealing with the needs of other team members and often the public.

Throughout my working life I have worked on both Mac and PC. I have an excellent working knowledge of most standard Microsoft packages including Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint. Along side this I often use Adobe Photoshop. During my time studying I obtained the RCA Word Processing certificate.

I have been present and helped during the editing process. Often digitalising and transcribing material.

I understand all elements of the film making process from pre-production to the online edit and delivery.

I am often working with various team members throughout the day. This can vary from the production manager, producer, head of training and marketing to interns on placement. I can work successfully without supervision
