About me

Raised between the staunch humidity of Houston and the calming mountain valleys of Catalunya, Mireya's artistic explorations were forged in her mother's gallery. Surrounded by Spain's contemporary artists and architects, she drew inspiration at a young age from her community, moving through the fine arts and into photography. While continuing her high school education, Mireya's affinity for the arts led her to intern under the senior photographer at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH). After a summer of classic rock radio and museum mac and cheese, Mireya was focused on getting her degree. Receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts in photography and advertising at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, she begun freelancing in photography, graphic design and retouching. Her work went on to be recognized globally, making the shortlist for the D&AD's Next Photographer, as well as having her work published in Semi Permanent's Annual book on multiple occasions. Her work has caught the eyes of a myriad of international publications and features. After nine consistently sunny years on the West Coast, Mireya headed to Manhattan to further pursue her photography and try her hand at filmmaking and curating.

As the pandemic ensued, Mireya ebbed between the towering skyscrapers of Manhattan and the red rock canyons of Moab; happy to temporarily cash in her metro card for backcountry rides in a mini tank. Her days are now spent exploring the quiet slopes of the mountains, snowmobiling and, on occasion, a -3 degree snow camping trip. Learning new terrains, Mireya continues to write her screenplays and is currently working on her most exciting photography project to date.
