ABOUT
I recently had the privilege of collaborating with a compassionate Christian charity based in Cambodia, which is working to give vulnerable girls a second chance at life. The charity’s mission is deeply rooted in a desire to help young women, particularly those exploited as sex workers, escape the harsh realities of street life by providing them with a dignified way to earn a living.
One of the most innovative initiatives they’re rolling out is Holy Crepe!, a food cart business that offers these girls the opportunity to work in a supportive, safe, and empowering environment. Instead of facing the dangerous and degrading choice of earning money through exploitation, these girls will now be able to take pride in earning a living by serving delicious crepes at branded stands across Phnom Penh.
The idea behind Holy Crepe! is both simple and profound. By creating an opportunity for these young women to work with purpose and gain financial independence, the charity is offering them not just a job but a chance to rebuild their lives. It’s a job that’s built on dignity, respect, and hope—things that have often been denied to these girls.
As part of my work with the charity, I’ve been helping establish the brand for Holy Crepe!. It’s crucial that the brand reflects not just the quality of the food but the heart of the mission—providing these girls with a fresh start. The goal is to create a brand that resonates with the local community and beyond, allowing the initiative to grow and scale across Phnom Penh in early 2025.
The hope is that by establishing a strong, recognisable brand, Holy Crepe! can play a key role in offering these girls a life away from exploitation. With the right support and a successful launch, the food carts will become a symbol of empowerment, showing that there’s always a way out, no matter how dire the situation may seem.
I’m truly honoured to be part of this project, knowing that every small step we take is one towards breaking the cycle of exploitation and helping these girls reclaim their futures. Together, we can build a brighter, safer world for them, one crepe at a time.
