About me
My name is Michelle Etienne and I am a graphic designer, based in Oxford, UK. I have over 3 years of professional experience working with design studios, private companies, and various freelance projects.
Graphic design was initially a curiosity as a child, but has now become my professional area of expertise and personal career and passion. Having specialized in graphic design at the University of Tampa (BFA 2007) and at the Miami International University of Art and Design (MFA 2009), I have found a vocation that merges my personal and aesthetic interests with an exciting career.
My diverse background and experiences have inevitably informed and shaped my understanding of aesthetics and style; growing up in Bolivia, during my studies and work abroad in the United States, Holland and the UK, I have had the opportunities to further develop various components of my design; wide ranges of color, the emphasis on simple line and negative space have become my main focus.
Design is constantly shifting and changing just as society is a movement in flux. As such, part of my design philosophy is to constantly keep myself up to date, in order to discover ways to capture my target audience and express ideas that my clients want to transmit. Graphic designers are problem-solvers, who must be in constant movement in order to create fresh and new designs that can not only be aesthetically appealing but can also convey important messages.
On a more personal note, I am an outgoing and independent woman who enjoys photography, museums, sports and good food. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people and the challenges and rewards of working in different environments. I consider myself an optimistic and happy person who can balance enjoyment with serious work, dedication and professionalism. I have always been motivated and eager to find new opportunities and all sorts of challenges.
