About me
I am an experienced Web Editor and Content Manager working for a small, local authority Web Team in Eastbourne, since 2001. I am looking for a job with similar responsibilities, but for an organisation who has a more creative and imaginative outlook and who expects to provide a high standard of content for customers.
I currently work mostly from home, which I wish to continue for a new employer who can offer flexible working.
Principally responsible for creating and maintaining content on the 1200 pages of *, I created the look for its recent redesign. Now using a content management system (CMS), three of us rewrote our entire web content to comply with AA accessibility, and usability guidelines.
Since 2006 I have trained 100 staff in Writing in Plain English, Writing for the Web and Using our CMS, offering ongoing support and refresher training. I proofread up to 100 web pages a day through CMS workflow.
I wrote our CMS User Manual and all the training material. I jointly created our Writing for the Web Guidelines which was recommended by the IDeA as best practise.
I continue to write content to the highest standard, create web directories, add Google Maps and RSS Feeds, create online forms, manipulate images, ensure metadata/search engine optimisation, act on monthly broken links reports, analyse web statistics and issue management reports.
I also use Dreamweaver to edit content in html on other council websites, and its Intranet.
