Thorpe Park is dedicated to pushing the limits and crafting experiences that redefine what it means to be a thrill-seeker. The creation of Hyperia was not merely about making a thrilling ride; it was about reigniting the passion of teenagers for Thorpe Park by developing an immersive narrative that resonated deeply with them. Designed for this target demographic, it taps into their experience of navigating a world fraught with uncertainty. In today’s climate, Hyperia meets this by providing a much-needed sense of empowerment and excitement for these young people. Guided by the creative proposition “Live the Edge”, it grabs audience attention and makes them feel truly alive, exhilarated and energised.

Inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Icarus, Hyperia reimagines this tale of flight with a contemporary twist. Its design and narrative embody themes of bravery, defiance, and pushing beyond one’s limits, inviting visitors on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure of strength and resilience. The experience delivers a powerful message of triumph over fear, leaving visitors feeling invincible.

Hyperia, the UK’s tallest, fastest, and most weightless coaster, stands out as a groundbreaking achievement in thrill rides. What sets it apart is not just its extreme acceleration and world-first inversions, but its emotional depth—an element often missing from traditional rides. While many thrill experiences focus solely on the narrative or sheer excitement, Hyperia captures a much-needed feeling that resonates beyond the ride itself, evoking bravery and triumph over fear which adds a rich layer to the adrenaline-fueled experience. Visitors are captivated from the moment they approach, with the coaster’s hidden location building anticipation. The ride begins with a thrilling tilt, followed by a 72-meter ascent, before launching into high-speed spirals, inverted loops, and weightless sensations. The unexpected twists and breathtaking elements leave riders breathless, offering a completely fresh experience that can’t be found anywhere else.
Hyperia has proven to be a game-changer for Thorpe Park, delivering both an incredible experience and strong commercial benefits. The ride has directly contributed to an increase in visitation, with many visitors citing Hyperia as the reason for their trip. This has led to a steady rise in footfall since the coaster’s opening. Within just a few months it had Product Score of 9.6/10 and the Net Promoter Score increased by 12% (YOY) - an impressive indicator of audience satisfaction and excitement.

Hyperia has significantly enhanced the park’s reputation as the UK’s most thrilling destination, driving brand loyalty and generating impressive sales. A total of 46,154 Hyperia merchandise items were sold, with the shop bringing in £698k—£385k over budget, and achieving a 42p RPC. The queueline alone contributed £240k, making it the top-performing queueline on site.

It’s spectacular launch event gave a foretaste of the immersive and irresistible power of the experience. Dance performances brought the legend of Hyperia to life and a golden anvil was struck to officially declare the ride open, accompanied by golden confetti and jets of flame and planes overhead trailing golden smoke. The campaign, "Find Your Fearless," ignited global media coverage, with Hyperia becoming a viral sensation as it trended across social media platforms.

In a landscape filled with high-tech attractions, Hyperia stands out as a ride that stimulates and celebrates the courage in those that ride it. A terrifying feat, the experience invites teenage thrill-seekers to overcome their fears and master of their destiny.
