About me
You will see that my experience has been gained in a career not directly related to the Creative sector, however, I have developed many transferrable skills that I consider would allow me to excel within a support role at a design agency.
During the twelve years with my last employee, a stockbroking firm, I held various positions including six years within administrative based roles and, more recently, roles within Information Systems and Business Support. The skills I have gained during and developed over this period include the following:
Excellent administration skills.
Within administration positions, I have processed and filed paperwork, inputted data accurately and timely into the company databases and ensured compliance with the Data Protection Act.
I have also reconciled and managed accounts, following up outstanding delivery of cash/stock where applicable so ensuring settlement.
I have responded to customer enquiries/ concerns, both verbally and in writing, always doing my upmost to ensure the service the customer, either internal or external, has received exceeds expectation.
Knowledge of databases and experience of processing data.
The management of databases was an important part of duties in administrative roles held, these were particularly in respect to the processing of account applications and the balancing of accounts.
Strong numeracy skills including the processing/understanding of data.
With a degree in Accounting and Finance, and experience within the Finance sector, I have developed further my existing strong numeracy skills.
IT literate.
I possess good knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
In addition, my two most recent roles have required me to display the ability to quickly, and adeptly, grasp an understanding of many applications and also of an Operating System. Having experience and knowledge of an Operating System allows me to have a stronger understanding of the relationship between databases and data processing software applications. During my studies at university I was introduced to Sage and have since used similar applications in the work place.
Strong communication skills.
I have displayed the ability in all my roles to communicate in a friendly, yet professional, manner, conveying information concisely and at the appropriate level so that it can be understood by all.
I also have the maturity and intelligence to speak with confidence to a range of persons both internal and external to an organisation and am able to comfortably manage situations where tact, diplomacy and confidentiality are required.
Excellent time management and organisation skills.
Prioritising and organising workload and time effectively has been essential in all positions I have held.
In my two most recent positions I often dealt with incidents that had an impact on the performance of operations of the organisation and so resulted in pressure from areas of the business effected to resolve as soon as possible. I had to investigate the cause of the issue, assess impact and prioritise workload and resources accordingly. Managing, communicating updates and resolving these situations, as well as managing my own day-to-day duties, required a calm, yet comprehensive, approach.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
With an analytical and inquisitive mind, I am able to use creative problem solving techniques to find solutions to complex issues.
Working as part of, and commitment to, a teams goal and success
I consider myself a good team player. I always ensure that I work towards the team goals, communicating, and building strong, positive relationships, with colleagues.
Motivated to work with no/limited supervision.
I have proven I am self-motivated and can be fully trusted to work without supervision as I have often worked cross-site to Management.
Additionally, I would like to point out the following personal strengths that I would also bring to any role:
The ability and desire to adapt and learn quickly.
Highly observant with a strong eye for detail.
Flexibility; willingness to go the extra mile.
Interest in design and desire to work in a creative environment.
Commitment to my role and the vision of the organisation.
After working in the Finance sector for twelve years, I am looking for a new direction and for the opportunity of employment in a field that relates to one of my passions and interests. I want to build upon my existing experience and skills and anticipate that these, along with my personal traits, would provide me with the foundation to build a successful career with, and provide a valuable contribution to, a creative organisation.
