About me

Over the last ten years my involvement in the arts and education has

been quite varied and extensive, working in universities, schools,

galleries and museums in North America, the Middle East and Europe.

July saw the completion of my terminal degree, an MFA in Sculpture

from Edinburgh College of Art. The course encouraged an

interdisciplinary mode of study and was embraced by myself, and my

colleagues. Over the course, I have worked in clay, paper, fabric and

metal. In addition I have also secured a postgraduate degree in Fine

Art Education and an honors degree in Visual Arts, both acquired in

North America. Through these degrees, I worked primarily in clay but

had extended practice in painting, drawing, printmaking, bronze and

plaster casting.

It was important that I play an active role in my academic and

professional environment. My roles have varied from leader to team

player and counselor to ambassador. Whilst in college, I was president

of the International Student Union for a period of a year, playing an

active role in their orientation and academic year. I also worked in

the Admissions Office helping in the recruitment of local and International

students. I was recruited to be an ambassador for the college, giving

tours and expressing my view on student life.

Prior to my arrival in the United Kingdom, I was a member of the

Visual Communications Department at the American University in Dubai;

teaching foundation studio courses for almost two years. My main

subject was freehand drawing with a class of students with different

aptitudes for it. As an instructor, my greatest task was to create a

course that catered to the novice whilst challenging the more

experienced. It was an invigorating two years establishing my

enjoyment of working with young adults. Although my experience lies

mainly in the school and university environment, I have spent time in

museum and gallery spaces. I had an extended exposure to their daily

running, an understanding of its database and taught in their

education programs.

Working and living in cultural entities that are not your own provide

tremendous growth and understanding towards diversity. It also

generates a careful sensitivity towards working with others and an

enhanced awareness of your environment.

I know that I have the key skills for the position and can add an

element of diversity to the team I am a hard worker and an avid

learner taking the patience to listen and the initiative to lead. I look
