About me
Max Aguirre (Argentina, 1971) is a cartoonist, graphic humorist, illustrator and singer-songwriter. He has been working professionally in visual communication and graphic storytelling since the late 1980s.
He published the comic strip Alina y Aroldo for ten years in Billiken magazine, contributed comics to Revista Fierro, and for over sixteen years has been publishing the daily strip Genio y figura in the Argentine newspaper La Nación.
His work has appeared in publications in Argentina and abroad. He has illustrated books for publishers such as Random House, Sudamericana, Norma, Mandioca, Orsai, Delcourt and Gárgola.
In parallel, he has created graphic identities, illustrations, labels, covers, murals and animations for musicians and writers such as Coti Sorokin, Tute, Cucuza Castiello, Leonardo Oyola, Hernán Casciari and Virginia Innocenti.
He has published more than twenty solo books and has participated in numerous anthologies. Among his recent works is an illustrated version of The Little Prince.
His awards and distinctions include the Fondo Concursable de Cultura (Uruguay), the Legión del Libro at the Montevideo International Book Fair, the Banda Dibujada Awards (), the 1st Prize at the Ser Bonaerense Comic Contest (2022), and the Premio Cultura Argentina al Mundo (2023). His first solo album, Terco, was nominated for the Premios Gardel in 2020 as Best Tango Album.
