About me

I produce commissions for private buyers with subjects including pets, houses, landscapes and portraits and take part in many local and national exhibitions. My work features regularly in local newspapers and is used to raise money for various charities.

I specialise in capturing the atmospheric effects of light on water at evening and sunset inspired by trips to Cumbria, Wales Scotland and Europe.

My latest work features mixed media techniques including pastel and watercolour, oil and acrylic.

In recent years I have continued to build my local profile in local shows ,especially through my work with several art societies most notably The Huddersfield Art Society and in 2011 I was pleased to be asked to serve as their President after carrying out a number of roles on their Council , and this has allowed me to strengthen my links with art galleries both in Calderdale and Kirklees.

In September 2011 I took part in a group show with Barry De More and Matthew Midgley at the Smith Gallery, Brighouse where I exhibited forty pieces in a show which was well received by the public and Council alike and achieved good sales. During this show I was also asked to discuss my work with several school groups to encourage them to produce their own pieces for the Peter Brook Art Prize. This mentoring work is certainly something I would like to build on in the future and goes well with my growing reputation as a demonstrator and workshop leader, particularly at Golcar Lily Day for the last three years.

I continue to develop new works with texture and colour still important factors and I am also becoming interested in showing my photography in its own right .I like to experiment with scale although I do have a preference for small works. My internet presence is building .

I hope that 2012 will herald more exciting developments where I can continue my own development and help others to fulfil their full potential also.

I am particularly happy to have been asked to take part in this year's Brighouse Arts Festival to coincide with The Queen's Jubilee and hopefully to have the chance to encourage young artists from local schools in two outdoor workshops and maybe reconnect with some of the students I met as part of the Peter Brook Art Prize .I think both myself and the students would benefit from this activity and will lead on to more connections with local schools both this year and in the future as the festival grows.

I also hope to show a small selection of my work at a suitable local venue.
