About me

I have worked as a graphic designer since October 2006, after
graduating from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in
London. My first job was as junior graphic designer at Tazbar (a small
family owned business), then I moved onto British Gymnastics as one of
a team of graphic designers. I worked there since March 2007 and gained
vital knowledge and experience within the field of design. The skills I
gained in previous employment were pushed much further while at BG.
Working for such a large and thriving organisation meant constant
production of quality work for various needs. I joined BG while an
influx of change was being undertaken, which resulted in the
development of new award schemes, work for the Beijing Olympics, a new
website and a re-marketing of the general brand within some aspects of
BG. Examples of work I personally carried out included the re-design of
the BG Proficiency Awards which is their major award scheme that
ultimately goes to hundreds of sports centres/schools and to thousands
of young gymnasts. I also created the point-of-promotion displays for
publicity events for the Proficiency Awards. During a re-design of BGtv
(online video content) I also created the backdrop display for the
filming studio and a new logo. Information cards and a Media Guide were
also created for the Beijing Olympic Games. I also undertook more
frequent projects such as the BG year planner that is distributed to
all members, as well as event programmes and posters. I left British
Gymnastics in February 2010 to move into a senior role at one of the
country's most widely-distributed local papers, the Shropshire Star.
Here I am one of two graphic artists who are needed for various graphic
production etc. These include promos, graphics for web, covers for
supplements, maps, logos, and the occasional event programme. However,
most of the time is used to layout the supplements & features pages
in the newspaper.
