About me

Matthew Lee Wolter is a graphic designer specialised in editorial design and typography.

He is German half English and was born in the north of Germany where he also grew up.

Matt took an apprenticeship as typographer in Switzerland, where he attended the "Schule fuer Gestaltung Bern".

After that he moved on to study communication design at Design Factory International College of Communication Arts

in Hamburg, Germany.

His past employers include the Financial Times, where he was involved in the daily production as well as weekly supplements.

He also worked for the Hamburg-based Heinrich Bauer publishing company, where was designer for several future magazine

titles at the R&D division and was also involved in the highly successful relaunch of the bi-weely TV-Guide "TV14".

In 2003 he relocated to Tokyo, Japan and joined Tokyo Journal magazine, where was soon appointed Art Director. Tokyo Journal is Tokyo's oldest English city magazine. First thing he did was to initiate a much needed graphical relaunch of the mag.

In 2004 he was appointed Art Director of Japan Markt, the member's magazine of the German Chamber of Commerce in Tokyo.
