About me

Hi, I'm Matt Broughton a Melbourne-based Freelance Illustrator, Graphic Artist, and Designer with over 25 years of professional experience in the creative industry. Bridging the gap between analogue roots and digital precision, I combine big-agency technical expertise with a practical, highly collaborative approach for clients globally.

Functioning as a dedicated off-site art department, I am just as comfortable with a paintbrush in hand as I am behind a screen. I specialise in blending traditional crafts—such as linocut printmaking—with modern digital tools to move beyond generic aesthetics and create work that resonates with authenticity.

From book illustrations and textile patterns to complex packaging and branding, I refuse to be limited by a single medium. I fluidly move between the roles of designer and artist depending on the project's requirements. When not immersed in commercial commissions, I focus on my original linocut practice, drawing deep inspiration from Australian landscapes and the heritage of Japanese woodblocks.

Away from the studio, I am an avid musician who writes, records, and plays bass. I find balance through road trips with my family and exploring new environments.
