About me
From an early age, I have loved the creative, imaginative and hands on approach to Design. It made me feel very passionate and committed in all that I undertook in this field.
I did a three-year course in Graphic Design plus one additional year undergoing a Diploma in Foundation studies at the University College for the Creative Arts, Epsom. The Diploma in Foundation studies covered a number of design disciplines, including fine art, photography, textiles, animation and 3D design. It was thoroughly enjoyable and beneficial to me as I feel I developed my skills with Art and gained a greater understanding of the various disciplines involved within Art & Design.
I would like to go into Digital and Print Design. This design area enables me to show my creative flair, as well as having an eye for detail. My working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign over the last four years has helped me achieve and fulfil this, which is ongoing.
I worked part-time for six years as a replenishment assistant at Sainsbury's Supermarket (Saturday Job). This role involved such duties as interacting with fellow colleagues, and helping customers. I enjoyed meeting an array of people and helping and assisting them in any way I could. I gained a great amount of satisfaction working as part of a team, contributing and helping to achieve the store's targets and goals.
I joined Prontaprint, Epsom for a period of work experience. This role involved re-designing a series of Corporate Stationary for Clients from the initial ideas to the set of finalised designs. I also learnt various finishing processes and general office procedures including working on the Company's Database and talking to customers/suppliers both face to face and on the telephone.
I got my career off to a start working for the Newmarket Group where I was responsible for the organising and scheduling of publications and advertisements for the travel industry, in both the retail and wholesale sectors. The transferral of information, such as visuals and type from the company's database to the required print application. I frequently had conversations with the design, marketing and call centre teams, to ensure deadlines and priorities were met and any issues resolved.
I then moved to Auto Trader where I was responsible for the Design and creation of display advertising as well as in-house and commercial promotional material. I offer creative solutions to a wide range of briefs covering motoring, livestock and outbuildings. I have frequent conversations with the Design Studio, Production Team and members of various Sales Teams, to ensure deadlines and priorities are met and any issues resolved. I regularly present a range of initial concepts and finalised work with/to other Studio members and the production team.
Whenever possible I like to spend my time travelling both in the UK and abroad meeting and socialising with an array of people and experiencing different cultures.
I also like watching and participating in a number of team related activities, where teamwork, discipline and communication are absolutely paramount to success.
