Hi There!

My name is Matt Shilton and I am a 23 year old Australian currently overseas on a Tier 5 UK working holiday visa which expires in May 2013. I recently completed my Bachelor in Planning & Design (Property & Construction) and Bachelor Property and Construction (Hons) from The University of Melbourne. I also worked the corporate commercial environment as a Construction Cost Consultant for 4 years during, and after completing my studies.

After arriving in the UK May 2011 I set off around Europe as a solo backpacker. After 3 months, I had covered a lot of Europe's main attractions and had a host of good and bad experiences along the way - all of which I am glad have happened. Upon returning to the UK once more I applied for a job in the French alps doing a ski season, which I have recently returned from as I was not getting the experience I had expected (mainly due to management, company and resort issues). Between returning from Europe and working in the alps, I found a job as a 'Manny' just outside of London where I lived with the family for 3 months and thoroughly enjoyed getting a taste of the real English lifestyle.

Whilst I have no regrets in my chosen study path and career choice I feel I was not fully suited to my job, although my prospects were quite high. My work in the construction industry allowed me to realise I want to work in the creative industries - particularly within Graphic Design.

The position with Become appeals to me as I am passionate about entering into the creative industries as I mentioned, and provides insight to what the industry is really about. Whilst I have no direct experience in this role, I feel it is something I could be quite successful at as I have an interest in the role - and a passion for the industry.

My previous employment has taught me that you can earn all the money in the world, but if you are unhappy at work, it's just not worth it! I experienced first-hand as I earnt a large income but dreaded coming into work.
