About me
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am currently looking and available for an immediate start within a Packaging Design role. The majority of my CAD experience is with AutoCAD, but I am also trained in SolidWorks.
My skills within computer aided design give me the key understandings of design, design programs and the design process. My career to date has included, designing bespoke protective packaging solutions to meet individual client briefs. This including taking the MCC's brief to protect the coveted Ashes Urn, on its very rare tour of Australia in 2007. This was to be done whilst also making the Urn visible to the press and reporters within an aluminium case. Previous to this I worked as a Senior CAD Technician at a design consultancy for the telecoms industry. This role involved carrying out site surveys on both greenfield and rooftop sites, completing general arrangement drawings to gain local council approval, detailed design drawings for construction, followed by as built drawings on completion.
Most recently in a change of direction I worked for the recruitment company Michael Page. Taking up this opportunity allowed me to learn and pursue new skills outside of design, such as building on customer-facing skills and entering the sales arena. As much as I enjoyed the new challenges, I found it hard to work outside of a creative environment with no visual end product.
Due to my varied work history I have a number of different skills I can pull from, with a very hands-on attitude to work, a real instinct for creativity and design, and excellent customer-facing skills, I am confident I can add value to any organisation.
Yours sincerely,
Matt Cairns
