About me
My name is Mat Boyle. I am a Graphic Designer from Port Talbot, South Wales, currently based between home and Islington. I am passionate about what I do, and have been told I do it well. I have a strong interest for concept development, branding and web design, but am always looking for new ways to apply my creativity.
I have just graduated my Degree in Graphic Design at Swansea Metropolitan University with a First Class Honors, and am eager to work within the professional and creative environment. I am a found believer in the design process, thoroughly researching products before pencil touches paper, and certainly before hand touches computer. I have over 8 years experience in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, with 5 years experience in InDesign and Quark Express.
I love creating visually striking posters, flyers and illustrations, as I have done in my freelance work for record labels such as Fierce Panda. This freelance experience has given me a fastidious eye for detail, checking work myself thoroughly before passing it on to be signed off for print.
However, since leaving university I have been meticulously learning how to code for the web. At first by getting to grips with XHTML Strict. I am now working feverishly to learn HTML 5 and CSS3 to meet the expectations of developing web standards. Regardless of my coding skills, I am more than capable of designing for web and also have intermediate skills in Flash.
I have constantly worked on multiple projects in and out of university, as well as balancing a part time job, which has taught me a strong sense of time management. I have demonstrated the ability to work in a team on the planning committee of my degree exhibition, and as art editor of my college magazine. But on my own, I am very driven and able to self motivate myself quite easily.
My communication skills are possibly one of biggest strengths. I am in no way afraid to stand in front of clients and present work. But I also know how to listen to a client's responses, taking on board their critiques in a professional manner.
I am confident in my ideas and not afraid to present them to large groups, but I am levelheaded and able to accept criticisms, and then apply suggested feedback to work if required. I am also not precious with ideas and if I have an idea to share someone for the benefit of the team, will do so without a moment's hesitation, as I believe creativity breed's creativity.
Given the opportunity, I would prove my commitment through hard work and by putting the time in the work requires, even if it means staying after hours to get the job done to your studio's High Standards. For your time, you will get a Graphic Designer who is focused, punctual and committed to his work. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hopefully it's peak your interest and give you some interest into how well and truly passionate I am at design, and the possibility of working at your studio.
All the best,
Mat Boyle.
