About me
I've been a copywriter and creative director for over 20 years, and freelance since May 2009.
Some of the things I'm good at are solving problems, thinking laterally, writing dialogue, working with actors, understanding other people's views, producing long copy quickly, making complex information understandable to the average person, and touch-typing.
I've got bags of experience with automotive, finance, media and entertainment, social marketing and public sector work, house builders, retail and utilities. I know lots about all kinds of things, which is remarkably useful in advertising.
I'm based in Glasgow, Scotland, but I can work anywhere if it's worthwhile. You can hire me by the hour, day or week, and you can team me with an art director or leave me in solitude. I'm really not fussy, except when it comes to the quality of my work. Oh, and getting paid.
Skills
Twenty-five years as copywriter, senior writer, creative group head, deputy CD and CD of primarily ATL agencies in Scotland, preceded by about five years in Manchester and London agencies and a couple of years client-side as a marketing executive. Freelance since 2009 working for direct clients, ad agencies and a growing number of digital, design and DM specialist companies.
