About me

Hello.

I'm Martin Watts. I am a graphic designer and recent graduate from Plymouth College of Art achieving a 1st class BA (Hons) degree. I am eager to establish a career within the visual communication industry to expand my knowledge further my skills as a designer.

I am passionate about innovative design and problem solving, taking great satisfaction in producing effective outcomes through a variety of creative mediums. I have a meticulous attention to detail and insist on accuracy. Thoroughly enjoy design for print and the endless opportunities for communicating ideas and concepts through a multitude of physical items. I love to get hands on with the design process, and when possible the production process too, creating mock-ups and prototypes.

I have strong typography, layout, branding, illustration, media and photography skills and love to work across a variety of projects challenging my creativity and diversity. Fluent in Adobe CS5, particularly strong in Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop. I have an understanding of digital / web based media, including video editing in Premiere Pro and 3D using Sketchup. Capable of learning new skills quickly and integrating them into my everyday workflow seamlessly.
I have a strong knowledge of design for print, originating artwork for CMYK, spot colour output and screen print. Hands on experience of printing and print finishing across a broad range of processes, techniques and substrates giving me a practical understanding of their capabilities and limitations. I am also enthusiastic about photography, with a keen eye for composition and strong practical knowledge. I thoroughly enjoy shooting both film and digital, utilising the strengths and characteristics of each.
