I am a skilled and experienced Product Designer and I am writing to enquire whether there are any short or long-term Freelance Product Design Engineer opportunities available within your company.

My skills have been developed during projects involving a wide variety of products and materials, generating experience in a varied cross-section of industry.

Over the course of the last few years I have explored new techniques for rapid surface generation and have developed a deep professional interest in the coherence of form and function. My preferred process is to use exploratory sketch-work to generate conceptual 3D surfaces, which leads naturally to multiple CAD iterations for assessment of feasibility and subsequent product development. As such I feel confident of my abilities to take a design idea from a concept sketch, through the various stages of development, to a product ready for series production.

During the design process working on the external and internal mechanisms of products and on the pragmatic implementation of the product testing equipment has generated valuable insights into user-product interaction and the likely long term integrity of a product in 'real-world' situations. I can also create CAD models from a shaped and formed prototype using reverse engineering techniques such as cloud point data, cost-effective imaging or simple component study.
