28 May 2009To Human Resources,I am interested in the 3D Modeler/Animation/Motion Graphics position. As a British national, I am currently a US Resident. My wife and I are willing to relocate from our current home in Arizona. This position appeals to me because it combines 3D with art and creativity. I am passionate about producing images and animations that tell a story, sell a product, or appeal to people in an interesting way.My desire to pursue a career in 3D art creation began at the age of fourteen with the influence of films and video games. The one course available in the United Kingdom at the time cost ₤600 per day. This was too costly an option for me, so I tried another route. After calling video game companies directly to ask what I could do and what software they used, they suggested learning Kinetics 3D Studio Max. During the summer of 1996, my two years of saving finally resulted in the purchase of this software and a computer capable of handling it, the IBM Aptiva. Night and day I studied the materials included with the software, challenged my new skills, and trained myself to enter the field of 3D. My experience is quite varied. For three years I taught university level 3D courses, which enabled me to teach the foundation of the subject while challenging my own ideas about the topics we covered. I have applied my skills to presentations, still renderings, fully animated short films, etc. I have worked as the sole 3D artist within a company and as a member of a team of 3D artists. In both situations, I have found working together to be beneficial for the end product. My recent work has been largely architectural, however I have experience in many fields. I enjoy all aspects of the creative process from brainstorming and storyboarding to production. When challenged with deadlines, imposing requirements, or a new piece of software, I am able to focus and apply myself to producing a quality piece of work. I have a depth of knowledge in several software programs as well as working knowledge of many more. I enjoy sharing and learning with others and work well as a member of a team.
