About me
My name is Mark Flack. I graduated in June 2010 from Middlesex University with a BA Honours Degree in Product Design. Over the duration of my 3-year course I have worked on & produced projects in many different areas of design. I have created & designed products in all of these sectors using my own ideas & concepts.
What interested me most when doing my course was the overall branding & presentation of the products e.g. using my presentation skills in Illustrator, Photoshop & other graphical software to create highly detailed presentation boards explaining my product to potential consumers. My visual skills improved & grew under the tutelage of the course and I was able to create & display good quality images, presentation boards & products for the clients and companies that presented us with briefs during the 3 years, these company's included:
(1) Airwick, who asked us to design a unique stand-alone air freshener that would appeal to a younger market.
(2) Dezac, Dezac are the company behind the Rio health & beauty products. Their remit was for us to revamp one of their existing products, improve its performance and make it more user friendly.
(3) Virgin Atlantic Airways, they were asking for new concepts & ideas for an economy class dining experience including changing the design of the meal trays.
(4) Waechterbach, A German Ceramics Company asked us to design a tea cup based on a culture of our choice represented through the design of the cup.
(5) Sustain Our Nation; this is a company who specialize in social enterprises. They asked us to create a social enterprise through design-based thinking that would be of benefit to the local community & beyond.
These are just some of the big named company's I have completed projects for over the past 3 years.
Through these projects I have gained a greater understanding of customer & client needs and realized how far reaching these products in all their forms can be. I am most interested in the branding & marketing of products, creating an image and portraying what it is & who its for through visuals & graphics. I also enjoy the design process producing conceptual ideas & working to find solutions to problems, which are challenging, mentally stimulating and ultimately rewarding when a solution is found.
I am hardworking, enthusiastic and a good team player. I believe in my ability and myself. I have been known to bring a few surprises to the table & have often exceeded the expectations of my peers. Products & design are my passion and I love a challenge and I feel when it comes to design you always have to exceed what is expected of you
