About me

Maria Stavride is a Lecturer at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. She holds an MA in Graphic Fine Arts from the University of Kent, UK and a BA in Graphic Communication from the University of Wolverhampton, UK. Maria has worked as a magazine designer and art director and since 2004 she is teaching Typography and Editorial Design in the Department of Design and Multimedia at the University of Nicosia. Her research interests concentrate on the history of modern and postmodern magazine design and periodical publications, the history of Cypriot typographic and ephemera design, document design, and design education. Maria is a member of the "International Conference on Typograpy and Visual Communication" (ICTVC) Organizing Committee. She has given public lectures on design education practices and social responsibility in graphic design.
