About me
Hi there,
Paddy power's 'Chaves at Ascot'; Lynx's 'boyfriend of a flirty girl', 'milliondollarshaveclub' with the immortal line "I'm good at tennis"...the lazy use of Yoda for Vodaphone, and the bizarre but understandable switch from "bacon sandwich" to "cup of tea" for Paul whitehouse's sign off in the Aviva spot. Cumberbatch's horrible google + piece, making you feel every bit like your life has been reduced to 30 seconds rather than elliptically woven. These are just recent examples of the good and bad things about copywriting, and why I'm introducing myself as a conceptual and visual copywriter, who's been doing TV, and looking to progress. We all aspire to Nike's 'Write the future' but in the meantime, let's keep the chaves out, with clever copy enhanced by great visuals.
Of course, the day to day work of a copywriter is not just sitting around 'liking' and not liking things. Detailed, accurate and engaging copy is required even for some of the most prosaic of subjects: fire extinguishers for instance. A tough brief. I've written just this type of internal comms for the most international company in the world. Not a hopeless idealist without a commercial clue here. Oh no. Pragmatism rules.
I have spent the last five years writing and producing adbreak content for all the major UK broadcasters. 30 seconds is my weapon of choice. The ability to distil core messages and deliver that strange alchemy of selling without craven marketering is something I'm passionate about and an attitude towards advertising that consumers are extremely sensitive to. From large scale integrated tv campaigns to internal communications with big dreams, I have the many voices to suit any brand.
Ideas are just grist for the mill and digital's appetite for shiny new ideas, and well-wrought creative is insatiable. It must be fed a minute by minute diet of invention and stand-out copy. I am switched on to the power words can lend to the big brands who have mighty, singular voices; or indeed sensitive to multi-storied, fledging brands where tone of voice foments personalised bonds with customers.
If you are looking for a copywriter who can weave 'light' into information heavy long copy or add a dash of 'shade' to pithy short copy to make a whispering start-up roar; or indeed throw in a visual doosey, then I'm eager and all ears.
I am a copywriter who wishes to cudgel thy brands with highly visual and conceptual copy that jabs you in the gut, or indeed has the ability to draw you close, with an arm around...before a poke in the eye.
Ideas. Available. Now.
kindest
Marc Monserat.
