Mike's work
About Mike
I'm a multi-speciality entertainment technology photojournalist, magazine editor, copywriter and PR specialist. My years in the international entertainment technology industry have included roles as senior copywriter or creative director with two London-based ad agencies, editing the live music industry trade magazine Live! and the installed audio-visual systems title Installation Europe, culminating in the self-founded PR companies Gasoline Media, Mike Lethby Media and, most recently, Magnesium Media. Magnesium Media provides a comprehensive range of both photojournalism, photography, videography and marketing communications services. Its website is currently under development, while a Facebook page has been launched and will soon be expanded. It's also fully equipped to combine these with high resolution digital photography and videography, with state-of-the-art hardware and Apple Mac-based software solutions. Those editorships also added event planning and organisation to my skills palette. Annual trade shows and awards dinners, both in London, and high-profile sponsored backstage hospitality bars for performers and production crew at festivals including Glastonbury, Phoenix, the 'V Festivals and Guilfest, and the Princess Diana Memorial Concert at Althorp, earned me a reputation as both an innovator and a "safe pair of hands" at A-list events House. It constitutes a unique blend of PR, advertising, general marcomms, event management, and a complete package of photography, videography and audio recording facilities. As a highly skilled photographer and videographer, my systems use state-of-the-art hardware and the software to match. A broad range of apps includes Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Lightroom; Quark Xpress; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); FileMaker Pro database creator; video apps including Apple Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve; and multi-track audio apps Pro Tools, Logic Pro and Ableton Live. My track record includes being marketing manager at the UK's top hi-fi chain, Richer Sounds, and numerous years doing press ads, brochures and newsletters for entertainment technology brands such as Soundcraft, Stirling Audio, DiGiCo, Turbosound and Vari-Lite.
