Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to apply for the above position.

I have not long finished my BA in Graphic Design from the University of Brighton and am looking at opportunities to get my career started. I have been doing various freelance work since 2009 alongside with work experience placements allowing me to get and insight into the industry and some relevant experience. I do a lot of freelance work at the moment varying from layout and magazine design to promotional design. I have also had some agency experience, working as a design assistant and a graphic designer to gain some experience, so I work well in a team and independently. I am very creative, very career focused and determined to make a success of my chosen career and would be an asset to any company willing to give me a starting point. My skills range from book design, layout, typography and collage to identity, packaging and branding, I also have knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascipt.

Skills

I am strong across the adobe platform, particularly indesign, illustrator, photoshop and acrobat. I am a creative strong minded person that is confident in using either mac or a PC but am also able to be hands on and be creative in different ways. I am independent but also enjoy working in a team and love finding new ideas and discovering new inspirations and influences. I am a determined individual and want to succeed in everything I do. I love design personally and to me it is not just a career, its a massive part of my life.

Sector Experience

I have gained a lot of experience from my education and degree within graphic design, but I have also gained knowledge from work experience and the freelance work I have been doing the past couple of years. For my work experience I have worked freelance and also within a museum redesigning a room. I feel this hasd allowed me to see both aspects of working for myself but also working within a team and this is a great transferrable skill to the work place. , I have also worked independently producing flyers, logos and posters for music events around Birmingham, London, Hastings and Brighton for the past four years, once again allowing me insight into the industry and gaining that extra confidence.
